  • Solid Rock Ski Night! (Feb 24)

    Here's all the details:


    Meet at the church by 5:00 (please come abit early), we'll be back to the church by 10:15.


    Cost: $5 for the bus, Lift Ticket $4.25, Helmet (everyone) $1.25, Ski/Boots/Poles Rental $7.00, Snowboard/Boots $12.00, Cross Country Skiing (at Nordic Centre) $6, Tubing (yes t...ubing at Nordic Centre) $4. Nordic Centre is about 1/2 kilometer from the main lodge.


    Bring money and signed permission form. We will have extras at the church if you don't have one.
    Don't ski? Don't worry! We have people who can teach you.
    Dress warm, and bring along supper or money for supper.

  • Our Final SRY Week Before Summer Break

    On Wednesday (May 20) we're having a BBQ at the Austins' from 7-9pm. Bring along $2 to help cover the cost.

    On Friday at 4:30 the bus leaves the church for Mudblast weekend. The bus is full but if you still want to attend please let me know and we'll squeeze you in if we can. It's gonna be a great weekend!

    If your not able to go to Mudblast then drop-in to the Solid Rock Cafe on Friday night for some great live music. (6-midnight, only $2 at the door)
  • This Week's SRY News
    Hey there Solid Rockers,
    This Wednesday night the Jr. High have a work night at a local park (bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty) and the Sr. High have a teaching night. Both groups meet at the church at the regular time.

    On Friday it's Jr. High Drop-In from 7-10pm. Only $2 for three hours of good, clean fun.

    Don't forget to bring your Mudblast registration forms and $10 deposit. Registration deadline is next Wednesday so get your stuff together and join us for Mudblast 2009.

    It's our last month before SRY summer break, and it's a busy one!
    This Wednesday night (May 6) we have having special guest Shauna Simmons and her "Make You Think" tour. Shauna is a gifted speaker, former Miss Ontario and now produces the Make You Think series.

    SRY will go from 7-9:30 this week. It will be a great time with some other youth groups joining us as well so bring your friends along.

    Group Workcamp parent's meeting this Wednesday at 8:30.

    Jr. High Drop-In has been moved from this Friday to May 15.

    Get your Mudblast registration forms and deposits into us. Deposit is only $10 and an additional $65 for a total of $75...hey math is fun!

    Thank-you for coming to last week's beach party. Great time everyone!

    On Wednesday we meet again for a "teaching" night (7-9pm) and on Sunday night we have our WoW worship (6:30-8:15) service with a very special mystery guest.

    Youth doing the Clothing Depot (Cathy's Life 2gether Group) are to be at the church by 4:30.

    Make sure to bring in your $10 deposit for Mudblast. (May 22-24 at Camp Wildwood, Bouctouche NB). Total cost for the weekend is $75. It's always the best way to close out our Solid Rock year.

  • IT'S HISTORY
    Well the reunion is over, what a great turn out, we are only begining to start to count.
    There were many surprises. We had some parents come out, Kitty Macleod, Mrs McGee, The Smith's Ronnie Maclean and others I may have missed. Alot of people went to a great effort to show up.
    I'm reminded of a line from Henry V "men in their beds asleep will think themselves acursed they were not here this day"
    We took alot of pictures, I'll post some and the rest will be available as a DVD in story form with music. We will sell them a little over cost with the profit going to the school.
    Also if anyone wants a copy of the video that was shown during the opening, please contact me.

  • Professional Development Weekend - Nov. 17-18
    This weekend the PEISTA is hosting a professional development weekend at the Loyalist Lakeview Resort on Harbour Drive in Summerside. On Friday evening we will open with dinner (salmon or chicken), followed by private meetings for all three Island boards, and then an evening of entertainment. (Bring your singing voices - we have karaoke!)

    On Saturday morning, Linda Lowther from the Department of Education will present a report card on the recent Provincial Task Force on Education. The presentation will begin at 9:00 a.m., following a buffet breakfast.

    A recent item on CBC Radio, features retired publisher, Libby Oughton and myself with Island Morning host Matt Rainnie talking about the upcoming book being published of work by members of Seniors College writing classes. Libby and Dianne Morrow are both currently teaching courses with Seniors College and want to contact writers who took courses in prior year to consider submitting a item of their work.

    Seniors College had offered courses for writers for over a decade, and the book is a celebration of members work from that decade.

    The interview also covers the overall project and the main celebration event at which the book will be launched on November 4, 2011, at Confederation Centre of the Arts.

    The UPEI Centre on Health & Aging through its project on Abuse of Older
    Adults Awareness Project is seeking senior who are interested in becoming
    Seniors-to-Seniors Abuse Awareness Presenters. As trained volunteers the
    Seniors-to-Seniors Abuse of Older Adults Awareness presenters will provide
    awareness sessions within their own community or if interested neighbouring
    communities as well (you would not be expected to do more than 3
    presentations per year).

    We are providing training on Thursday March 24 and again on Monday March 28.
    A training session is one day only and lunch will be provided, the two dates
    are to provide choices.

    If you or anyone you know is interested in taking the training please let me
    know and I will contact them to provide more details. I sometimes work at
    home so will give you all of my contact numbers which also have answering
