  • Tue., November 11th, Please take two minutes today to remember?
It’s a cold and dreary day here as seems to be the usual for Remembrance Days in my memory. My mother’s father signed up for WWII when he was 17 years old, he didn’t die in the war, but he passed away when my mother was a little girl. I was raised to put importance on [...]
  • Thu., October 30th, Twick or Tweet!
I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve blogged. I realized I better post some stuff fast before my Halloween decorating goes to waste! Social networking is so important for all of us self-employed people but how do you know which sites are worth investing time in? Well, I can tell you, it really depends on [...]
  • Thu., October 2nd, I?m in Canada, not East Labobia.
It’s been a long time since I had a good blog rant…today might be the day. (I want to preface this by saying that I do not intend to offend any East Labobians. As far as I know, East Labobia is a fictional country.) I remember when I was a kid, I loved reading Archie comics. It’s [...]
  • Wed., October 1st, Mann Made Time is Thinking Pink
My regular readers know that I like to decorate my website with the seasons and for the entire month of October we’re going pink to help raise breast cancer awareness. A portion of all Mann Made Time’s profits for the month of October will go towards finding a cure. No matter what your age, girls, start checking [...]
  • Mon., September 29th, What?s Cookin? With Google?
This might not have much to do with entrepreneurship, but it’s a technological time saver so that makes it worth blogging about! Anyone who regularly reads my blog knows I’m a huge fan of the Food Network and I absolutely love cooking. Unfortunately, my days are pretty busy now with a young family and a thriving [...]

For Marie-Claude. She purchased this necklace on my website, I removed my own glass and put in the glass she had collected in Italy. Very nice glass by the way! And with the remainder, I made a couple pendants.

If the glass looks shiny here, it's because I just washed it and it's still a bit wet. And the amber piece, on top the largest stack, was from the few pieces you gave me when you were in my studio, I needed one more for that pendant and I had broken one little green piece during drilling. Well, it cracked and I didn't want to put it in, in case it broke afterward.

Give me a shout that you've seen them before I put in the mail!
    • Sun., November 16th, Custom Earrings

      For MJ!

Great little green pair, and the white stack. I've had great success with this white stack style, so now I've made it a recurring product on my website. I think I'll create one for each of the common colors.

    • Thu., November 13th, Custom Jewelry

Custom Piece for Marie-Claude. She purchased an item already on the website, then sent me her own sea glass. I have removed the glass the I had in the piece and have done a couple of design options for her own glass.
#1 Uses all the glass, making 5pendants that can be taken on and off the piece. Allowing for some versatility.
#2 Uses 6 of the smaller pieces only in between the curves of the wire.
#3 Uses 7 of the smaller pieces only to make a bridge across the top of the wire curves.
The larger pieces in your sample Marie-Claude are too large to put with the curves, so they only work as a pendant, like your moms.
    • Fri., November 7th, I feel like the Greatest American Hero...flying without a Handbook.
I'm new to setting an alarm in the morning. I am a big sleeper, always have been, my mother will attest to that. My two children have finally begun to consistently sleep longer in the morning. But last week I started. Blaring at 6:50am I crawl out of bed and start my morning routine. Pack the lunches, something I always tell myself I should do in the evening to relieve some pressure in the morning. But I fancy myself a bit of a pressure player, so I know that I can get it all done in 30min exactly. Brush daughter's hair, can't send her to school anymore without brushing her hair. Until about age 6 or so it can occassionally be cute, but no more...she's 8...and if her hair is undone, it's 'unkempt', not cute. Make sure neither child has milk/juice on their face. Make sure I've signed daughter's homework because she'll lose marks if I don't and I can't have that on my conscience. And last, but not least, make sure son has underwear on. Seems pretty basic and he knows how to get dressed, but sometimes seems to think that underwear is optional. It's not. We have to get out the door at 7:50. That means yell 'TIME TO GO!' at 7:45. My son had a rough start for the last two months, starting Kindergarten and would not snap out of what I can only call a funk. He would be so negative about going to school. He would creep in the door like a little animal and sit in the corner. Wouldn't participate...and so on. Only to find it was that initial transition into the room that was bothering him. If we arrive early, before the crowd, apparently he is 'a different child', so early it is from here on out.

We're out the door, right on time, haven't forgotten anything, lunches are in the bag, homework pouch...ack...didn't pack anything for Show and Share. Drat. Son doesn't want to go back because he knows he wants to be early to get a good start. So along the way I say 'well, maybe we'll find something we can take', it's a stretch I know, but he loves picking up chesnuts and all sorts of things and one day I did find the hugest mushroom. Not today. Absolutely nothing of interest on the ground. Cigarette butts and wet leaves. Not to worry, son says he doesn't like Show and Share anyway, and I leave it at that. 'Just remember to use your words and tell them that you don't like it, don't just sit there and be silent. Use your words and everything is fine'. Up the stairs, into the school, where I am met with a blank stare from the teacher.

"Did you have your parent teacher meeting last night?" Yes I did. "Then there is no school today, it's on the schedule."

    • Holiday Season
I haven't blogged in quite some time. I actually now have two additional blogs - so keeping up with all three has certainly been a challenge. Blogging is huge in all industries these days and even in the general public. It has become a great way to touch base, trade stories or obtain advice from fellow realtors. It's awesome to find people in similar situations or to learn from some realtors stories.

The holidays will soon be here which usually means a slow period in real estate. But a busy time visiting families and friends.

Hopefully I will be able to post some helpful and informative information soon or at least in the New Year!
    • BUSY BUSY BUSY
Wow...this is a busy time of year. My apologies for not keeping up with my blog. We are going non stop selling houses - so you can go on to my website and check out all the information located there. Hopefully when things cool down, I can get back to this!

The Colour Marketing Group have developed some new colours due to come out in 2008. They announced the colours at a Vancouver gathering saying they looked to nature for inspiration, as well as fashion and world cultures.

Here are the 14 new colours:

Brown Under: moves away from redder-based neutrals, provides and Central American influence
Down Pour: softer grey, the color of cautious optimism
Dragon Blood: blue based red with multi-ehtnic references, it's about luxury and elegance
English Khaki: a traditional neutral that can be used in any finish or fibre
Fire Cracker: the most hopeful of the colours, this edgy orange has a Latin influence
Firozi: non-traditional blue hue, with a touch of the East
Luxe: velvet-like finish in a red -based purple
Spring Leaf: usable green with more yellow than blue
Starfruit: blend of gold and yellow
Whistler: gold, copper and brown, the colours of stability
Wishful Thinking: movement away from ubiquitous orange to deeper yellower version
Yew: this traditional heritage colour is a literal interpretation of the "green" movement

    • A Setback Thermostat
This was rewritten from an original article by James and Morris Carey for The Associated Press

      Ask yourself these questions:

Are you heating your home when you aren't there? What about while you are sleeping? Are you constantly adjusting your thermostat in the attempt to save money on oil?

If so, maybe you should consider purchasing a setback or programmable thermostat. These are thermostats that are set on a time clock. It is designed to automatically raise the thermostat in the morning and then lower it in the day when you are not there. When it is time for you to return home, it will raise the temperature again until bedtime when it lowers it while you sleep. It will repeat this cycle continuously.

You can choose from analog and digital models and you can have them programmed for one program to run seven days per week or up to 28 programs - four per day, seven days a week.

Installing these types of thermostats can save you up to 20 per cent on your heating and cooling cost. Worth looking into!

    • Tue., August 26th, A Very Thoughtful Real Estate Client

I was honoured lately to receive a gift from a client of mine who was looking to buy a PEI Real Estate property in Prince Edward Island, Canada. During email communications, I had mentioned to my client that Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Watson were coming to the Brudenell Golf Course in Brudenell, PEI near the scenic town of Montague. To my great surprise, this very considerate client said that she would courier two VIP tickets to attent the great golf tournament. The tickets arrived and my son and I attended the great event. The VIP tickets meant that we were treated like royalty - access to the golf club for free food and beveridges, and free parking right at the Brudenell Golf Course. My son and I had two days that we will never forget as long as we live. Thank you very much to my special real estate client.

    • Sun., August 24th, Prominent Saw Mill Burns in Murray River, Prince Edward Island, Canada

A very well known Saw Mill in Murray River, Prince Edward Island, Canada, burned to the ground recently. The Saw Mill run by well liked PEI resident Gerry Moore was a valuable business to the many local residents. Mr Moore cut up the raw trees brought into his yard into all kinds of sized hardwood and softwood. He even sold the slabs or bark of the trees that many residents bought for firewood.

But the story is not totally negative. A benefit concert is being held for Mr Moore and contributions will go to building a new saw mill. It is highly likely that Mr Moore will have a lot of local help in with the project. This will not only be of great benefit to Mr Moore and his sons but will also benefit all of the many residents of Murray River and surrounding areas of PEI.

Murray River is a beautiful fishing community in southeastern PEI that would be well worth your while to visit.

Garnet has been very active in raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI. He and his committee have raised great amounts of money for the critically needed equipment for Prince Edward Island's main hospital.

    • Scams are Everywhere!
I recently responded to an ad in the local paper to conduct research survey from home. I went to the compny's website and filled out the form for more information. A few days later, I received an envelope in the mail from this company. Inside was a bank draft for $2,500.00, a letter explaining what to do with the bank draft and a customer survey to complete and send back.

I was supposed to cash the bank draft and go to my local Western Union office and send $2,100.00 to a certain person in Ontario and keep $200.00 for myself and pay the fees to Western Union. The first thing I noticed in the letter was that Western Union was miscapitalized in various ways throughout the letter. Then I noticed that the corporate logos at the bottom of the letter, from companies they supposedly have done reseaarch for, were all a little bit off. They looked real at first glance but when you looked closer, they were obvious fakes. My proofreading skills actually saved me from falling for this nasty scam.

I contacted the police and found out that a lot of local people had applied for this job and got the same response. One person actually cashed the bank draft and will be liable to the bank for $2500.00. These bank drafts are FAKE. They will get by the local teller, but when they get to the sorting office, they are found to be counterfeit and sent back.

The good news is that I did not cash the bank draft. I contacted the local television news department and they came and interviewed me today. I just don't want anyone else to fall for this scam. It comes in many different business names, but if you receive a bank draft or cheque in the mail and are asked to send some of it back, DO NOT CASH IT!
    • Page 1 on Google - "Virtual Assistant Services"
I have finally made it to the first page of Google. If you search for "virtual assistant services" my website is at the bottom of the first page. This has taken a year of hard work, but it is worth it.

How did I do it? I didn't pay anyone to help me, but I did put out numerous press releases and quite a few articles. I added my site to many directories and joined a bunch of social networking sites. I used keyword and website optimization software to help me decide how my site should be designed and what words were the best to draw people to my site.

It does take a lot of work, but you can do it to. If you need some help, hire a VA to give you a hand.
    • Administrative Professionals Week
Administrative Professionals Week starts today. It is an international celebration of the hard work and value that administrative professionals bring to the business world. It is celebrated during the last full week in April with Administrative Professionals Day falling on the Wednesday of that week.

If you are an administrative professional, celebrate yourself this week and the accomplishments you have had in the past year. If you are the recipient of the hard work that your administrative professional does, celebrate him/her every day, but especially this Wednesday.

The day has finally come when we can say to the world: Welcome to ScreenScape.

Today we announce the start of private beta testing of an Internet-based service that makes creating your own customized screen display super cheap, and dead easy.

Though we're only now ready to publicly launch the company, we've been at this since last September. It started with a lot of thought about how we could use new techniques in internetworking and new media to reinvent place-based media in the image of the Internet. We asked ourselves a few very basic questions:

    • Working Away
Today I thought I would post on home offices and small spaces carved out to meet our ever growing need to work from home. I hope I can inspire you with a look at some functional and pretty home office spaces. A home office space need not be large to get your work done, but it should be a place where you can feel comfortable and organized whether it's paying bills, surfing the internet or

It's hard to believe it's almost the end of September and I've been working on this blog post for almost 3 weeks. These past few weeks Moving Designz has undergone a total transformation as we head into fall. Merchandise from the summer buying trip has been arriving daily. And each time we unpack and merchandise the store more and more red is being added. We've all been busy unpacking, pricing
    • To Dine For...
For today's post I thought we'd look at some amazing diningrooms and eating areas. As you will see by the photographs anythings goes depending on the style of your house. When considering new diningroom furniture take into account the size and shape of your room. Some rooms are naturally suited to round tables while others need square tables. It's always nice to pick a table that can be
